Lecce hits 100,000!
It was a 23-ton W270B wheel loader intended for the Italian market, the 100,000th machine to roll out of New Holland Construction's facility in Lecce, Italy.

The plant, built in the seventies, is one of the centers of excellence for the production of wheeled loaders, telescopic handlers and crawler dozers.
For the plant's approximately 700 employees, April 2nd was a day of great celebration. In addition to the milestone, Plant Manager Santi Cugno and Human Resources director Ampelio Ventura presented their colleagues with awards for excellent proposals made during the 2007 Suggestion System project.
The awards went to Giuseppe Martignano, Giuseppe Longo and Cosimo Scarpa. Antonio Casto won for the best proposal in the Quality catergory; Pietro Ricchiuto for Safety & Environment; Romano Dario Arena for Costs Reduction; and Alvaro Ditolini for 3s - Facilities - Maintenance. Teams classifying in the first ranks of the TPM Index 2007 where also awarded: Steel Plate Cutting Area (team leader Cosimo Carriero accepted the prize). TLB Frame Welding Area (Supervisor - Vincenzo Missure), Maintenance (Supervisor Riccardo Fazzi).
In the afternoon another important event took place. In the presence of trade journalists local authorities and company management, Giampiero Biglia, head of the Italien market presented Santi Cugno and platform manager Giampolo Montineri with the award from Construction Equipment magazine. The American puplication recognized the New Holland Telescopic handler M series produced in Lecce as one of the most innovative 100 "winning" procucts of 2007.
The official ceremony was recentliy held in Las Vegas, during ConExpo, the exhibitior dedicated to construction machinery.
This prestigious recognition rewards the product quality, 'made in Italy' creativity and the commitment of those working in Lecce. " With about 70 countries served and with export representing 80% of its production," Biglia said, "the plant marks a milestone in the history of our company. In recent years we have heavily invested to improve the achieved this importand goal, which testifies to the excellence of our production processes."
